Gold Leaf Outline

I first met these clients at a neighbourhood party, and we hit it off right away. During our conversation, they mentioned they were torn between doing a full renovation of their current home or purchasing something new. After much consideration, they realized how much they loved their neighbourhood — and that their existing home had incredible potential. What it really needed was a completely new Kitchen, new Primary bathroom and all new updated finishes throughout.

They were eager to give their home the “cool factor” it was lacking, while also brightening up the space to feel open and inviting during the darker months. Once the contract was signed, we dove in — asking questions about each client’s personal tastes, what they loved about their home, and what they wanted to change. One recurring theme quickly emerged: a lack of storage.

We began brainstorming ways to maximize every square inch of the small space. This family of four needed more storage, but they also wanted a home that felt perfect for hosting casual get-togethers with family and friends. Their home, built in the early 2000s, came with dated finishes that didn’t reflect their vibrant personalities, bold colour preferences, or eclectic taste in art.

It didn’t take much convincing to go all in with a bold palette of emerald green and copper finishes in the Kitchen. We utilized every inch available — adding built-in cabinet organizers in almost every drawer, taking millwork right up to the ceiling, and creating a brand-new pantry from what was once an unused wall. The new pantry now includes a built-in microwave and large pull-out drawers for bulk items like dog food, rice, flour, and extra paper products.

Organic elements bring texture and warmth throughout the space. Shimmery zellige tile adds movement; prismatic pendant lights mingle beautifully with verdant, trailing plants. White oak flooring was intentionally chosen to lighten the space from the ground up — its tone feels bright yet warm and perfectly complements the kitchen’s bold colours.

The organic warm elements continue into the Primary Bathroom where we created a WestCoast spa vibe. We selected a ceramic tile that mimics the look of white oak to give the shower the feel of a Nordic sauna. The heated floor tiles are a gorgeous penny round style in undulating watery tones of blue. The penny round tiles feel soothing to walk on, giving your feet a mini massage as you move through the space. We designed a custom made vanity surrounded by blue organic wall tiles and completed the design with a sky blue Limewash covering the ceiling and walls. We opted for an unexpected blue concrete sink as opposed to a standard white choice which adds further colour and character. The space is completed with a striking, striped mirror and wall mounted sconces which adds the perfect touch of whimsy and warmth.

When the lights are dimmed and a glass of wine is poured, this once-dated home transforms into a space that feels like you're in a chic, downtown restaurant. The clients are absolutely thrilled with the end result and have often said they could never have achieved this transformation without our guidance and inspiration.

Love love love our newly renovated townhouse thanks to Lindsay and her team! She guided us through all the steps, ensured we were as involved as wanted to be in the decisions, accepted our hard nos (we just don’t like brass!) and encouraged us to be expansive and, I might say daring, where we were comfortable. She found options that fit our budget and our style. Three months post renovation and we still smile and ooh and ahhh over how awesome our home looks and feels.
