Wow what a transformation! This home has undergone one of the most dramatic transformations we’ve ever done. The before and after photos of this project really must be seen to be believed. During the design process, we talked in depth with our clients about their dream list for their long awaited renovation. In order for this home to function at the highest capacity, it was obvious from the get go that we needed to completely overhaul the floorplan of the kitchen and primary ensuite in particular. The original kitchen was dark, dated and didn’t have the storage capacity that this family of four required. 

 

The primary ensuite has experienced the most dramatic transformation of the whole project.  During one of our first meetings, we brainstormed with the contractor and made the decision to move the walk-in closet to the other side of the room and extend the primary ensuite. By reworking the floor plan, we were able to almost double the size of the ensuite bathroom.  This allowed us to create a super luxurious, large shower big enough to fit two people comfortably, complete with a double vanity and two wash stations.  

 

In the kitchen we opened up the entire space by completely changing the layout and added storage by extending the cabinetry right to the ceiling.  Now, the skylights allow the kitchen to be completely flooded with sunlight.  All that natural light is the perfect accompaniment for the light and airy colour palette we selected for the home throughout. We designed a beautiful built-in dining nook with a bench seat complete with interior storage and a nautical, striped upholstered seat. 

 

We had a lot of fun choosing the finishes in this home! The front entry flooring is an encaustic cement tile in a playful plaid pattern, which is a perfect nod to our client’s Scottish ancestry. For the rest of the finishes, we went with bright, cheerful colours and patterns, perfect for a growing family to love for many years to come!
